VIDEO: Nine killed in east Ukraine as battle heats up

At least seven civilians and two Ukrainian troops were killed in the latest uptick of violence in eastern Ukraine overnight Monday.

The military conflict between pro-Russia rebels and Ukrainian government troops in the country's industrial heartland has largely subdued after an armistice was signed in February.

But despite the pledges to withdraw heavy calibre weapons, both sides seem to be engaged in heavy fighting.

On the outskirts of Donetsk, an Associated Press reporter witnessed weaponry on the move in the past few days while salvos of incoming and outgoing Grad rockets were frequently heard.
