Walking – the best exercise

In this day and age where technology overrides our daily lives, Xenia Peni reminds us that walking is the best exercise one can do.

Peni is part of the Women on the Move (WOTM) group that carries out a health and fitness program, including walking sessions.

In the busy schedule where gym time cannot be squeezed in, walking is a more flexible option.

“Walking is good because you can do that anytime, anywhere, by yourself, it’s free and you don’t need to go to the gym,” she said.

WOTM initially started off as a walking group and now has other sessions like aerobics, which are taken by professional trainers, including Xenia’s brother, Aristo Peni, and Hannah Ilave.

The group also provides health and fitness advice and aims to inspire people to accept health and fitness.

“You don’t need to go to the gym or to an expensive class. You can do it at home, in the park or at the beach, you just need to have that motivation to start,” she said.

For those who prefer to hit the gym, Xenia says grab a friend.

“It’s always great to go with a friend. If you find a buddy and you both really want to get control of your health and fitness, you should commit to each other,” she stated.
