Vanuatu anticipates tough competition at Oceania 7s

The Vanuatu National Men’s 7s team is in the final stages of ironing out mistakes ahead of the Oceania 7s Championship in Fiji next week.

The team had a trial session with Efira rugby club last Saturday to do their own assessment in terms of their strength and conditioning and skills level.

Head Coach Morrison Dansey is impressed with the performance of the players during their training sessions.

“So far I’m pleased with the boy’s preparation, hopefully after the trial, we are able to identify areas that we need to work on and improve the tournament,” he said.

Vanuatu is anticipating a tough challenge as they will be facing such as Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and Samoa.

The tournament which also serves as a regional qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, encourages equal opportunities for Women’s rugby and Deaf rugby across Oceania and beyond.

The Oceania 7s will be held 7-9 November at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
