France focus on improving defense for Germany match

France is focused on improving its defense leading up to the quarterfinal of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup against Germany on Friday, November 25.

France coach Gilles Eyquem said, following the victory over New Zealand 2-0 in the last round of Group C matches that the team will need to work on its defense.

Eyquem said he was happy and very pleased with the performance of his players as they played a very good game against New Zealand but there are always some details to work.

“We have good players so we have good potential against the Germans however we still have some work to do on our defense as we have to be more compact.

“Our players are very fast but we have to be more precise in front of the goal as we should have scored more goals against New Zealand,” the coach said.

Eyquem admitted that the qualified teams are very good and strong teams.

“Before the tournament I already knew that this would be a very good tournament.

“First of all I am going to be focused on Germany in the quarter final as they’re a very good team and usually when they have an opportunity to score they do,” he said.

Eyquem added that their big threats would also be Brazil, Japan and Korea DPR that have very good teams as well.
