Vanuatu in pole position to get back on World Cricket League ladder

The first round of matches in the World Cricket League qualifying tournament for East Asia-Pacific will be played in the regional Australian city of Bendigo on Sunday, with Vanuatu warm favourites to take out the trophy for the first time in the absence o

Vanuatu will be up against Fiji, Samoa, Indonesia, the Philippines and Japan, and for the winners there will be a chance to get back into the truncated World League system in division five next year.

Vanuatu's coach, Shane Deitz, says his team has warmed up for the contest, with a day in Melbourne, rubbing shoulders with some of Australia's star players, and playing a match against a local premier league team.
