Vijay Singh back for Fiji International

Vijay Singh has confirmed his entry for the fourth edition of the Fiji International, on the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course he helped to redesign.

The Lautoka-born major winner says playing in the Fiji International each year is important to him and he always works his schedule to ensure he can return home.

"I really enjoy playing in front of a home crowd, which is something I did not have the opportunity to do before the Fiji International," he said.

"Everyone welcomes me so warmly and shows me so much support yet is respectful of my preparations, Fijian fans are great."

The 54-year-old Singh has been working on the redevelopment of the Natadola Bay course since the day after the 2016 tournament ended.

The new layout will debut at the Fiji International with the tour professionals the first to play the course.

"I started the re-design work on the Monday after the tournament last year, making changes to 15 of the 18 holes with the major focus being on the greens, fairways and bunkers," added Singh.

"I have kept a close eye on the work being done and I'm very pleased with what we have developed. I believe that it will be more playable for all level of golfers but also better showcase the unique piece of land the course is on.

"I am very much looking forward to playing the course and experiencing for myself the effect the changes have on its playability."
