5.3-magnitude quake hits 174 km SSW of Port Vila, Vanuatu

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10.0 km.

It was initially determined to be at 19.1557 degrees south latitude and 167.6016 degrees east longitude.

Fiji Times reports the moderate earthquake occurred at 8:25am at a depth of 108km.

It was located at 156km Northeast from Luganville in Vanuatu, 323km North-northwest from Port Vila in Vanuatu, and 1242 km Northwest of Suva, Fiji.

No reports of damage or threats were recorded.

The Seismology Unit of the Mineral Resources department assured that this earthquake did not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region and will be monitoring the seismic activity for further updates.
