More ni-Vanuatu students complete APTC courses

Kandy Toa, an education support graduate, acknowledged the Australian Government for continuing to invest in skills development in Vanuatu supporting the government priority to invest in people.

“Some of us had to return to our home island in the first month of our course in 2020 but when we were given the opportunity, we came back to campus in 2021 to finalise our qualification. And today we are celebrating our fulfilled dreams.”

2,167 ni-Vanuatu women and men have graduated from APTC with an internationally recognised qualification since 2007.

Ambae students’ access accredited plumbing training for the first time

It is the first time that an accredited plumbing training has been made available on Ambae.

A partnership between the Torgil Rural Training Centre under the Anglican Church of Melanesia Vocational Education and Training Schools (ACOMVETS) and the Department of Water and Resources (DoWR) with support from the Australian Government through the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) and the Vanuatu Skills Partnership has made the training available.

Vanuatu education leaders graduate from APTC

The graduates of the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management consist of teachers, deputy principals, principals and officers of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Acting Principal Education Officer of the School Based Management Unit at MoET, Jean-Jacques Tarileo, is one of the graduates.

He said the graduates transformed their knowledge in ways that should lead to positive actions in schools and classrooms in the future.

Senior Pacific Police to develop leadership and management skills

APTC delivered the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management (BSB42015) to Pacific island Chiefs of Police in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga and Tuvalu.

The Pacific Faculty of Policing is a joint initiative of the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Institute of Police Management, designed and implemented to complement Australian efforts in providing police leadership development opportunities across the Pacific region.

46 ni-Vanuatu to celebrate virtual graduation milestone with APTC

The 46 ni-Vanuatu women and men will be celebrated virtually on Television Blong Vanuatu on Monday 24 August 2020.

APTC Country Director for Vanuatu and Nauru, Anna Naupa said, “While Vanuatu, alongside many other Pacific island countries, has no confirmed case of COVID-19, APTC acknowledges these times demand a different way of engaging with each other and across our Pacific countries out of consideration for everyone’s health and well-being.”

Efate school leaders improve their leadership skills

The cohort of nine women and nine men consisted of primary and secondary school leaders, and representatives from the Teaching Service Commission, and the Ministry of Education and Training.

The Ministry of Education and Training, Shefa Province Education Office and APTC, in collaboration with the Australian-funded Vanuatu Education Support Program (VESP), sponsored the five-week intensive training.

During a small ceremony to celebrate their achievements, course participant Jennifer Attison, acknowledged their employers for prioritising their professional development.

Australian-funded programmes strengthen Vanuatu’s TVET system

Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) CEO, Soli Middleby, made the comment during the signing of a partnership agreement between the Australian-funded Vanuatu Skills Partnership and Australian-funded APTC to strengthen Vanuatu’s national technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and support inclusive skills pathways.

Vanuatu’s Anne Naupa is APTC new Country Director for Vanuatu and Nauru

Ms Naupa, who took up her new role in December 2018, joins APTC from the UNESCAP – Pacific Office in Fiji. She has a wealth of experience in development policy, programming and political economic analysis and has also served as a senior regional adviser at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.

As APTC’s first ni-Vanuatu Country Director, Ms Naupa will be using her extensive experience in engaging with Pacific Island governments, civil society organisations and development partners across the region.

Students begin studies at APTC

This semester, the students will be completing certificates in tourism, hospitality, youth work and early childhood education and care, just to name a few.
