Vanuatu chocolate company wins gold

Aelan's Dark Chocolate Malekula and Malo Dark Fine Chocolate took out the top spots in their categories.

Aelan Chocolate Makers is owned by the local not-for-profit organisation ACTIV.

ACTIV said it aimed to empower disadvantaged communities in Vanuatu through fair trade.

The Vanuatu Daily Post newspaper reported that Aelan also won five silver medals and one bronze.

The top award also adds to their winning entries into the World Cocoa of Excellence competition in France, where two of their four entries were placed in the top 50 cocoa producers – in the World!

It is a major achievement for ACTIV Association who have had a very busy year, entering competitions and at the same time rebranding and repackaging their chocolate.
