Three US Army personnel test positive for Covid at Marshall Islands border

The three army personnel tested positive for Covid soon after arrival at the US Army Garrison - Kwajalein Atoll (USAG-KA) Tuesday while starting a two-week quarantine period for entry into the country.

This comes after two Covid-19 cases were confirmed on arrival on a flight from New Caledonia.

The government public relations officer, Fred Vurobaravu, said the country's annual popular Fest' Napuan music festival, scheduled for this week in Vila, would be cancelled if any community case is confirmed.

Vurobaravu said the Covid-19 National Task Force was to test all 18 passengers who arrived on the flight from the French Territory, as well as all individuals who came into close contact with the two ni-Vanuatu.

Loughman made the comment as he announced that the Ministry of Health through the Covid-19 Task force team in Port Vila detected two cases of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday.

He said the two patients were part of 18 passengers flown into the country on Friday 22 October, from Noumea, New Caledonia.

“Health authorities discovered the two had the coronavirus while they were in the quarantine”.
