Ni-Vanuatu student Washita Regenvanu pursuits his passion in Fiji

All the way from Uripiv Island on the Northern coast of Malekula Island in Vanuatu, the 23-year-old made his maiden journey to Fiji to study the Diploma in Nautical Science (L5) programme at FNU.

“I chose to study this field because I love working on boats and travelling around the island,” he said.

“My parents are both teachers back in Vanuatu, I have two sisters in my family, and this is my first time here in Fiji. I look forward to the experience of learning in a new country.”

Fiji university welcomes new health collaboration with Otago

The Otago University Global Health Institute has signed up with the Fiji National University and the National University of East Timor for five new research projects in the next two years.

Fiji National University's associate dean research, Donald Wilson, who is also the director of the new Fiji Institute of Pacific Health Research, said the greater Pacific region would benefit.

More students from Vanuatu to study at FNU

The MOU was signed in Suva, Fiji yesterday.

VIT principal Jack Graham said the FNU has been a beacon of timeless learning for many Vanuatu students.

He said FNU has produced graduates who helped contribute to Vanuatu’s development.

Graham said the signing marked another milestone in the historical cooperation between Fiji and Vanuatu.

FNU Vice Chancellor Professor Nigel Healey said the MOU would enable students from Vanuatu to learn from Technical, Vocational, Education and Training and the  National Productivity Training Centre.

     

Better opportunities at FNU

Fiji National University being the state university was established in 2010 by merging seven institutions throughout Fiji including the Fiji School of Medicine, Fiji School of Nursing, Fiji Institute of Technology, Fiji College of Advanced Education, Lautoka Teachers College, Fiji College of Agriculture and the Training & Productivity Authority of Fiji (TPAF). These colleges have proven history dating back to the 1800’s and are continuing to enhance the teaching and learning programmes to keep up with the market requirements.

Agreement boosts disease response in Pacific Islands

The Pacific Community (SPC) and the Fiji National University (FNU) have signed an agreement for the further development, implementation and accreditation of the region’s Postgraduate Certificate in Field Epidemiology, also known as the Pacific Data for Decision Making Training course.

 “We’re very pleased with this new agreement with FNU that will help in building sustainable human resources for public health data analysis, surveillance and epidemiology in the Pacific,” said SPC Director of Public Health, Dr Paula Vivili.
