Shefa win, one step away to victory

The win puts Shefa still top of the table but now with six points.

In the other match, Malampa Province beat Penama 3-1 and is now leveled with Shefa with six points each but is in second on goal difference.

Shefa will now meet Malampa on Saturday and the Gold and Black just need a draw against Malampa to win the title.

Malampa needs a win against Shefa.

Northern Region POO kicks off Wednesday

Vanuatu Football Competition manager, Bong Shem confirmed that six provinces in Luganville, Santo will participate in the competition.

The purpose of the tournament is to highlight the opening of the first ever Football Academy by FIFA in the Northern Region next week, Tuesday and also to celebrates the Silver Jubilee of Vanuatu Football Federation Congress this year.

Last Saturday Port Vila Province Of Origin football competition kicked off at Port Vial Stadium.

Amicale FC starts preparation for OFC Champions League 2016

Last Saturday results- Spirit 08 FC beat Mauriki FC 4-1 and Amicale down Tupuji Imere 3-1.

The purpose of this friendly competition is to help Amicale prepare for the OFC Champions League 2016 because TVL Premier League will not start until end of January 2016.

Shefa Province wins, top table

Head coach Wilson August praised his side’s all-round display after they beat Penama 4-1 and top the ladder.

In the other match, Malampa Province had to work really hard to beat a strong Torba Province side 2-1.

Torba looks strong under the captaincy of Freddy Vava but the Blues of Malampa made it three points just ten minutes before the final whistle.

The win puts Malampa leveled with Shefa but the Gold and Black lead the day one ladder on goal difference.

Province of Origin kicks off this weekend

The Province of Origin football competition kicks off this Saturday at Port Vila Stadium organized by Vanuatu Football Federation and sponsored by Port Vila Municipality.

The new competition has been introduced to keep clubs and players active until the season opens again early next year 2016.

It will also unite the players from other Provinces who play for big clubs like Amicale, Tafea Ifira Black Bird and Erakor Golden Star FC to have the chance to play for their own Province to celebrate Port Vila Day on the 29 November 2015.

New Zealand won't appeal Olympic tournament disqualification

New Zealand made the final of the Oceania qualifying tournament in June but semifinal opponent Vanuatu protested that South African-born defender Deklan Wynne didn't meet FIFA eligibility criteria.

New Zealand Football said Friday it had legal advice recommending an appeal to the Oceania Football Confederation, but felt there was too great a risk to other players from pursuing the case.

Media reports in New Zealand suggest that as many as 18 players who have represented New Zealand from under-17 to senior level in recent seasons may have been similarly ineligible.

Vanuatu women's coaches upskill

The course – which ends today at the Vanuatu Football Federation Academy – features coaches from eight of Vanuatu’s football member associations.

VFF women’s football development officer Joel Rarua says it comes at a time when women’s football is blossoming in the country.

“Vanuatu won the bronze medal at the OFC U-20 Women’s Championship in Tonga last month, and overall indications are that women’s football is growing here," Rarua says.

The new Vanuatu National Senior Team head coach, Moise Poida is pleased with the performance of his team against a strong Fiji side last Saturday at Port Vila Stadium.

Vanuatu should have won the game easily but missed a lot of chances to score against the Frank Farina coached boys.

Solomon Warriors striker Kensi Tangis scored Vanuatu’s goal in style after receiving a great ball from Dominique Fred.

Fiji worked extra hard and in 96 minutes the Blues leveled the scoreboard seconds before referee Banga Robinson blew the final whistle.

Vanuatu and Fiji draw in first friendly match

The Vanuatu national team has drawn 1-1 against Fiji at Port Vila Municipal Stadium during their first friendly match on Saturday.

Vanuatu took the lead just in 11 minutes when top striker Kency Tangis receives a well through ball from counter-part Daniel Natou and fires a thunder shot past Ben Aminio.

Reid honoured at NZFMA awards

All Whites captain and West Ham defender Winston Reid has been named New Zealand Player of the Year at a football awards dinner on Friday.

The accolade was announced at Auckland Grammar School during the Friends of Football’s Celebration of Excellence dinner, held in conjunction with the New Zealand Football Media Association awards.

The highlight of the evening were tributes to All Whites greats Steve Sumner and Brian Turner.
