Istanbul airport attack: Deaths rise to 42 as Turkey mourns

Three attackers arrived in a taxi and began firing at the terminal entrance late on Tuesday. They blew themselves up after police fired back.

Officials earlier said 239 people were injured, with 41 in intensive care.

PM Binali Yildirim said early signs pointed to so-called Islamic State.

CIA Director John Brennan also said it "bears the hallmarks" of the jihadist group.

However, no-one has so far admitted carrying out the attack.

At least forty-one people have died and 239 more have been injured after three suicide bombers armed with AK-47s attacked Ataturk airport in Istanbul, the largest airport in Turkey. 

Gunman arrived at the airport in a taxi and began shooting at the terminal entrance before blowing themselves up. CCTV footage shows dozens running as explosions hit the airport. 0

Turkey has declared three days of national mourning over the suicide bombings which claimed the lives of 41 people and injured 239 more.

Forty-one people remain in intensive care from the attack which happened on Tuesday night (local time).

Five Saudis and two Iraqis were among the dead, a Turkish official said. Citizens from China, Jordan, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Iran and Ukraine were also among the 13 foreigners killed.

Among those buried were victims Siddik Turgan and Mustafa Biyikli, who were mourned at funerals in Istanbul on Wednesday.
