Jarryd Hayne

Gold Coast Titans lose first game with Jarryd Hayne against Warriors

In front of a bumper 25,109 crowd keen to catch their first glimpse of the Titans' superstar recruit, it was Warriors' playmaker Shaun Johnson who stole the show.

Johnson set up two second-half tries to break a 10-10 half-time deadlock, as the Warriors (24 points) leapfrog the Titans (23) into seventh on the competition ladder.

Solomone Kata's intercept try, his second four-pointer of the match and 12th of the season, sealed the match for the visitors.

Bird: Hayne will boost Titans finals assault

In a 20-minute press conference to herald his arrival on the Gold Coast on Wednesday, Hayne spoke about his desire to play football again in 2016 and how the Titans' ability to offer that opportunity was integral in him committing to the club for the next two years.

He could conceivably turn out for the Titans against the Warriors on Sunday but will undergo a thorough physical assessment by Titans medical staff before coach Neil Henry considers how to best utilise a player who has not appeared in the NRL in almost two years.

Hayne returns to NRL with Titans

Hayne, 28, departed the NRL at the conclusion of the 2014 season to pursue a career in the NFL after winning the Dally M Medal alongside Johnathan Thurston.

The custodian could feature for the Titans as early as their Round 22 meeting with the Warriors this Sunday, with a bumper crowd expected for what should be a significant day for Gold Coast.

Hayne to sign with Titans?

RNZ reports the Titans announced this morning they would make a major club announcement at half past midday (NZ time).

Hayne has not played in the NRL since he left Parramatta to try his hand at America's NFL at the end of 2014.

But according to the Nine Network he is set to return with the NRL's youngest club.

The reports come after Fairfax Media suggested the Titans were willing to offer the former representative star a deal worth $NZ 1.3 million a season with third-party components included.

Hayne misses out on Fiji Olympic Sevens berth

RNZI reports Hayne met with coach Ben Ryan on Friday and was told his time with the squad had ended.

Ryan said he could see that he was not going to have enough time remaining to make the final cut.

Semi Radradra Eels: Jarryd Hayne the carrot in Parramatta’s $2 million plan

The Daily Telegraph can reveal Parramatta are working on a blueprint which, costing upwards of $2 million a year, will unite Radradra and Hayne in the code’s most exciting backline combination.

Wallaby legend not surprised by Hayne’s poor sevens debut

The former Parramatta Eels star was afforded little game time in the last event before the Olympics, playing just 17 minutes in Fiji’s six matches – all off the bench – and struggled to adapt to the speed and physical demands.

It was telling that coach Ben Ryan, whose side secured back-to-back sevens titles on Saturday by making it through to the quarter-finals, did not call for Hayne in the semi-final, which Fiji lost 26-21 to South Africa.

Hayne and Fiji take World Series title

The former San Francisco 49ers running back got on the field as Fiji lost 26-19 to the USA in the third-place game. The Eagles had lost to Scotland in the semi-final, ending their attempt to defend the title they won in 2015.

Hayne off the pace at London Sevens

It leaves the 28-year-old code hopper just three more games against world-class opposition on Sunday to show coach Ben Ryan he deserves a place in Fiji's 12-man Olympic squad.

Fiji did not need Hayne's barnstorming brilliance to wrap up a back-to-back World Rugby Sevens series triumph.

Big wins over Wales (42-5) and Australia (26-0), following an upset 31-10 loss to England, secured Fiji a quarter-final berth and put them out of reach of second-placed South Africa in the overall standings.

Hayne called into Fiji squad for London Sevens tournament

Code hopper Hayne only landed in London on Monday, hours after quitting American football where he played last year as a running back for the San Francisco 49ers.

He cited the August Rio Olympics as his primary motivation for walking out on a lucrative NFL contract to link up with the world beating Fijians.

On arrival in London on Monday, Hayne claimed he was taking baby steps as he worked towards fulfilling his Rio ambition.
