Twitter abandons the "buy" button and now you can eat your six-pack

1 – Twitter has stopped caring about “buy” buttons.

Twitter is said to have moved most of the staff working on its “buy” buttons initiative and many other have left the company, according tothis report.

Why this is important for your business:

Twitter relaxes tweets' 140-character limit

The move comes as Twitter's efforts to increase its user base and engagement have been sputtering, raising questions about its growth trend.

"Over the past decade, the tweet has evolved from a simple 140-character text message to a rich canvas for creative expression featuring photos, videos, hashtags, Vines and more," Twitter product manager Todd Sherman said in a statement.

"So, you can already do a lot in a tweet, but we want you to be able to do even more."

Twitter is turning 10. Will it see 20?

"It is absolutely reasonable to ask that question," S&P Global Market Intelligence analyst Scott Kessler says.

Today Twitter (TWTR) trades at about $16 a share, a 75 per cent decline from its peak, reflecting a sharp loss of confidence on Wall Street.

While discovery on Twitter previously relied on following the right people, searching for hashtags or clicking on trends - all of which would also inundate users with heaps of potentially irrelevant information - Moments are concise collections of tweets, images and videos from Twitter that have been hand-selected to tell a story or follow a live event.

US stocks move higher; energy, GE, Twitter are among gainers

General Electric jumped 4 percent Monday after activist investor Nelson Pelts bought a stake in the company.

Twitter rose 5 percent after a long-running search for a full-time CEO concluded. Co-founder Jack Dorsey will have a second chance at leading the company.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 188 points, or 1.1 percent, to 16,662 as of 11:45 a.m. Eastern time.

Twitter might axe 140 character limit

The social media giant is currently mulling the introduction of a product that will end character restrictions that have become Twitter's trademark, according to Recode.

While Twitter is officially staying tight-lipped at the moment, unnamed officials told the website that interim Jack Dorsey sees the policy change as a way to freshen up the tech leader.

If enacted, the move would echo Twitter's decision to lift the 140-character restriction for private messaging in August.
