The partnership will see accredited ANZ facilitators deliver financial education with female market vendors, entrepreneurs and small business owners across a number of UNDP supported projects.

Patrick Tuimalealiifano, Deputy Team Leader of Inclusive Growth Programme at the UNDP Pacific office, said this partnership is about more than just balancing a budget.

“We want to help rural market vendors, predominantly women, move away from subsistence living, and MoneyMinded has proven success in helping Pacific people create a positive vision for their future,” he said.

Following the March 2020 general election, 50 percent of the members in the 12th Legislature of the Republic of Vanuatu are newly elected MPs.

The induction programme is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and focuses on key areas such as professional development of MPs and staff, the improvement of Committees’ legislative and oversight work, and support to parliamentary outreach and citizen engagement roles.

Income losses are expected to exceed $220 billion in developing countries, and nearly half of all jobs in Africa could be lost. With an estimated 55 per cent of the global population having no access to social protection, these losses will reverberate across societies, impacting education, human rights and, in the most severe cases, basic food security and nutrition.

The equipment includes hand and power tools for about 500 workers and associated protective gear.

The workers can be mobilized to undertake rehabilitation of community infrastructure or activities such as debris removal and solid waste management. The equipment will also be used to support basic carpentry training for youths.

The training is organised by the Right to Information Unit in partnership with UNDP from 9th to 13th April 2018. Mrs Aylair Livingstone and Mrs Lavenia Rokovucago will be representing UNDP as RTI Consultants facilitating this training.

Mrs Livingstone has contributed to the development of the National RTI Policy and drafting of the RTI Act with assistance from the RTI Steering Committee and the State Law Office.

Through the Vanuatu Livelihoods for Resilience Initiative under the Tropical Cyclone (TC) Pam Recovery Project, the people of Shepherd Island in the Shefa Province of Vanuatu continue to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of TC Pam.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Government of Russian Federation recently handed over community goods and opened community centers for the Tongoa, Tongariki, Buninga, Mataso and Makira communities of the Shepherd Island to aid their recovery efforts.

Corruption is an issue that affects all countries around the world.

It contributes to a lack of trust and confidence in governance and leadership, undermines democracy, and sets countries back economically.

In a statement, the UNDP says: “Strengthening anti-corruption measures and building transparent institutions is a priority task for governments and citizens around the world, including in Papua New Guinea.
