Final preparations underway for Tok Tok Vanuatu 2018

This year Tok Tok will be held at the Warwick Le Lagon, Vanuatu in the Farea Pasifik Convention Centre.

VTO has confirmed that 52 booths have been erected so businesses (Sellers) can meet with wholesalers and agents (Buyers) during the 2 day business-to-business meetings.

The Chef du village, Sebastien Bador, VTO’s Research and Information Manager, has taken the role of officer-in-charge of the village set up and lay out since 2008.

Vanuatu Tourism Australia roadshow on this week

About 150 travel agents have been invited to test their destination knowledge through the showcasing of Vanuatu’s latest and greatest offerings.

The event will also heighten existing as well as new business opportunities between Vanuatu tourism operators and travel agents. 

The 2018 Vanuatu Roadshow includes three events with the first in Sydney on Monday 7 May, 2018; followed by Brisbane on Wednesday 9 May, 2018; and Melbourne wrapping up the roadshows on Thursday 10 May, 2018. 

‘Wake up in Vanuatu’ Australian campaign launched

The campaign will run in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria and the emphasis is on reaching travellers in Sydney and Brisbane, with direct flight links to Vanuatu from these cities.

The campaign message is an evolution of the Vanuatu destination brand ‘Discover What Matters’, and has three content pillars to showcase what is on offer in Vanuatu for visitors and reinforce the Wake Up In Vanuatu message.

“It’s Business As Usual” for Vanuatu Tourism

While a full assessment is still underway, VTO reports that there has been no significant damage to infrastructure and the tourism businesses on Efate (Port Vila), Espiritu Santo and Tanna.

Airports in Port Vila, Espiritu Santo, and Tanna are open and receiving flights.

International and domestic flights are operational.

VTO has also advised all agents and consumers to check with airlines directly before travel for any schedule changes and updates.

Vanuatu tourism sector on the up

The survey, undertaken by the New Zealand Tourism Research Institute at Auckland University, measures travel patterns, behaviours, and spending by Vanuatu's international visitors arriving by air.

RNZ reports the survey has been done with the help of the World Bank's International Finance Corporation.

The IFC Pacific manager, Tom Jacobs, said the survey, now in its second year, provides year-on-year data that can be used to inform tourism development.

Organised by the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) with assistance from the tourism industry, Tok Tok Vanuatu is held every year.

The group arrived in Port Vila on 19 June and left last weekend as part of the ongoing recovery campaign project targeting New Caledonian tourists.

Captain Linda Kalpoi Stays On as Vanuatu Tourism Office GM

Recently the General Manager of VTO Mrs Linda Kalpoi had her contract as General Manager extended for three months allowing time for due process of advertising the position.

This was officially signed by Mr Paul Fred on behalf of the Board of VTO & Vanuatu Government, witnessed by line managers and staff of the VTO.

VMM installs touch screen information kiosk in VTO Visitors Information Centre

These touchscreens are an offshoot of VMM’s long-standing What To Do print publication, which is the official tourist publication of the Vanuatu Tourism Office and uses the comprehensive listings compiled for that publication.

This is the fourth screen VMM has installed with screens now in Warwick Le Lagon, The Melanesian Hotel and Coconut Palms.
