Vanuatu Transparency International global index

Vanuatu ranked 71 on global transparency list

The index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.

It uses a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.

Unlike many countries, Vanuatu has not been ranked in previous years.

The only other Pacific Island countries in this year's rankings are Papua New Guinea at 135 with a score of 29 and Solomon Islands at 85th with 39.

PNG has improved its ranking by 15 places over five years.

New Zealand was ranked the top country, with 89 points.

Somalia was ranked last.
