Australia funding to help Vanuatu's tourism recovery programme

Vanuatu’s tourism recovery programme has received a boost with funding from the Australian Government.

The assistance will support the Vanuatu Tourism Marketing Recovery Programme over three years beginning in 2021.

A Direct Funding Agreement worth AUD $1,530,000 was signed between Australian Government representative Shannon Ryan and the Acting Director General of the Ministry of Trade Tourism Commerce and Ni Vanuatu Business, Jimmy Rantes in Port Vila recently.

The country’s tourism-reliant economy has been severely impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic as tourism revenues have been halted due to the closure of borders.

The funding is aimed at growing international tourism demand for the country when borders reopen.

The Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) will be the implementing agency of the funds.
