VEO prepares for Efate Rural by-election, Luganville Municipal elections

The Vanuatu Electoral Office (VEO) is in the final stages of preparing to conduct the Efate Rural & Off -Shore islands by-elections as well as the Luganville Municipal elections next month.

The electoral office is receiving ballot papers for the Efate Rural & Off- Shore islands by-elections.

The Chairman of the Vanuatu Electoral Commission, Martin Tete, has reminded voters in the Efate Rural & Off- Shore islands constituency that Polling Day will take place on Monday, 2 September 2019.

Tete also confirmed that all 29 polling stations will be officially opened to voters at 7.30 am and will close at 4.30 pm.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission is currently conducting screening of the 71 candidates, who have applied to contest the Luganville Municipal elections.

VEO stated that publication of the names of candidates qualified to contest the election will be declared by the Electoral Commission on Friday 30 August 2019.

VEO said all eligible Luganville Municipal election contestants will commence their campaigns on Friday 30 August 2019 and will close at 12 midnight on Saturday 14 September 2019.

According to VEO, polling day for Luganville Municipal elections will be on Tuesday 17 September 2019.

Polling stations will be officially opened to voters at 7.30 am and will close at 4.30 pm.
