Digicel Amicale FC Team announced for 2016

After months of planning and preparations, the Management of Digicel Amicale Football Club (FC) with the support of Digicel Vanuatu have announced an exceptional 26 member squad for the 2016 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC).

The announcement was made at the Digicel Head Office on Thursday 18th February to members of the press. 

The new season is set to be a challenging one with the OFC League kicking off in April and explosive matches lined up throughout the year in the lead-up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup. 

As Vanuatu’s leading Telecommunications Company, Digicel is proud to support a leading football team especially with Amicale’s impressive performances in the past years including Final appearances in 2011 and 2014 in the OFC League. The main adversary of Digicel Amicale FC on the road to FIFA 2018 will be Auckland City who won the tournaments of 2011 and 2014, but this is side news as team management relishes the generous support of Digicel for the new season 

Technical Director, Anthony Pisano commented, “I feel that the partnership has come at a critical time.  The support from Digicel is invaluable”. 

Yaser Maher, CEO of Digicel Vanuatu encouraged support for the new team, “This year promises to be an exciting one, with key moments that will be shared with people all over Vanuatu. Amicale and Digicel are committed to bringing families and friends an amazing year of football. We encourage people to join us to meet the new team for an entertaining afternoon next week at the Port Vila Stadium for the first games”.  He added, “We are proud to introduce the new team. We believe in the future of Vanuatu and its Digicel Amicale FC Team. Our intention is to help Vanuatu football to become bigger and better in the coming years and we want to encourage the community to share these important sporting events.”
