Under 16 Junior Beach Volleyball Championships

Vanuatu Volleyball Federation successfully ran the inaugural Under 16 Junior Beach Volleyball Championships at the newly constructed Stade Beach Volleyball Courts.

A total of 13 girl and 6 boy teams took part in the event earlier in the week which consisted of pool play followed by single elimination.

Competition was fierce and there were plenty of close games across both genders. The Championships were organised as a feeder event to the biannual Vanuatu — New Zealand Under 16 Beach Volleyball Championships which will be held from the 14 – 16 December and the top 5 boy teams and top 6 girl teams have now qualified to represent Vanuatu at this upcoming event. These teams will now undertake a 10 day training camp in preparation for the arrival of the New Zealand teams.

The Vanuatu Volleyball Federation would like to thank Asco Motors for helping to sponsor the event and Azure Water for kindly donating cold, bottled water for players and officials.

A big thank you also to all the volunteers for helping to officiate and organise the tournament – Anna, Leslyn, Kevin, Manu, Bernard, Andrew, Tini, Vito, Pierre and Gigi.

Lastly, the organisers would like to say well done and thank you to all the players who came down for a fun filled day of beach volleyball and friendly competition.
