Unity Front Political Grouping maintains unyielding solidarity

The Unity Front for Change is adamant to set up a new government after the swearing in of the new parliamentarians in tomorrow’s First Ordinary Session for 2016.

A source from the camp this morning confirmed 34 MPs woke up this morning at their Pele Island camp site, north of Efate island and are travelling today to Christelle Blue Resort on the south for their last night together before they travel to Port Vila tomorrow to elect a new prime minister.

Another said the total number of this solidarity group still rests at 36 MPs but they can expect another one or two who want to be in the government and not the opposition, to join them tomorrow.

The source said the solidarity of the 11 party coalition is intact and the plan is to get closer to Port Vila in preparation for tomorrow’s siting.

Components of the grand coalition include the Vanua’aku Pati (VP), the Graon Mo Jastis Pati (GJP), the National United Party (NUP), the Rassemblement Des Mouvements Pour Le Changement and Partners (RMC), the Vanuatu Green Confederation (VGC), the Vanuatu National Development Party (VNDP), the Nagriamel Movement, the Melanesian Progressive Party (MPP), the Fren Melanesian Party (FMP), a member of the Union Of Moderate Parties (UMP) and the Leaders Group.

It is believed portfolio sharing has been completed but no details have been disclosed to the media.

The Unity Front political bloc has been working on developing its 100-day work plan which will cover activities from the day it is elected into the government.

The unyielding solidarity of this formation is likely to leave the rest of the UMP members, the Iauko Group, Labour Party and a couple of independents on the other side of the house.
