Vanuatu beat New Caledonia in style

Ben Hungai and Ricky Tuialoa were stars as Vanuatu Futsal National Team beat New Caledonia 6-3 in the OFC futsal Championship 2016 underway in Fiji.

The Gideons poorly started the match as New Caledonia fired their first goal in just seconds after the kick off yesterday afternoon.

Vanuatu superstar, Don Mansale leveled the score after ten minutes but Le Cagous added their second goal just before the end of the first half to make it 2-1 in favour of the Grey.

After the break Vanuatu regrouped and came back strongly and saw Ben Hungai netting three goals and two more from Ricky Tuigaloa.

Before the end of the match, Morsen Luie hit Vanuatu’s sixth goal in style against le Cagous.

New Caledonia scored their third goal just seconds before the end of the match.

The win puts Vanuatu now third on the ladder with six points equal with New Zealand and Solomon Islands.

This is Vanuatu Futsal’s best result in a OFC competition since 15 years and the dream is not yet over as Louis Dominique’s boys will take on their wantok, Solomon Islands on Friday at 4.30pm (Vanuatu time).
