Vanuatu finishes in sixth place at OFC Nation’s Cup

This is after they lost to Fiji 6-4 in the 5th/6th place playoff.

Iosefo Verevou scored the first goal for Fiji with an accurate low drive at the near post from Shahil Dave’s kick-in in the 3rd minute but Vanuatu produced a swift reply courtesy of Rhydley Napau.

Midway through the first period Kevin Donald took advantage of an uncharacteristic defensive error by Fijian skipper Setareki Hughes before Verevou grabbed his second and Anish Khem followed up for the Fijians’ third as the lead seesawed between the two Melanesian rivals.

Vanuatu beat New Caledonia in style

The Gideons poorly started the match as New Caledonia fired their first goal in just seconds after the kick off yesterday afternoon.

Vanuatu superstar, Don Mansale leveled the score after ten minutes but Le Cagous added their second goal just before the end of the first half to make it 2-1 in favour of the Grey.

After the break Vanuatu regrouped and came back strongly and saw Ben Hungai netting three goals and two more from Ricky Tuigaloa.
