Vanuatu conspiracy case decision today

The Magistrate Court in Vanuatu will today decide whether the alleged conspiracy case against deputy Prime Minister Joe Natuman and a former acting police commissioner will go to the Supreme Court.

RNZI reports Mr Natuman was facing charges of conspiracy to defeat the course of justice when he, in his role as prime minister and minister for police, suspended investigations into mutiny allegations involving senior police officers.

Mr Natuman was prime minister between 2014 and 2015.

The then acting police commissioner, Aru Maralau, who was acting on instructions from his minister, is facing the same charges.
