Lead actress Taraneh Alidoosti has said she will boycott the ceremony.

This year's Academy Awards take place on 26 February, during the 90-day order banning Iranian nationals from the US.

In a statement, President Trump said visas would once again be issued once "the most secure policies" were in place, and denied it was a Muslim ban.

The move has been widely condemned.

Sixteen state attorneys general have said the order is unconstitutional. Several federal judges have temporarily halted the deportation of visa holders.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a legal case early on Saturday in response to the order.

The judge's stay prevents those "caught up" in the aftermath from being deported, the ACLU said.

The group estimates that between 100 and 200 people were being detained at airports or in transit.

The court decision came as thousands protested at airports in several US states over Donald Trump's clamp down on immigration.
