Vanuatu Red Cross heads attend IFRC Statutory Meeting

In between meetings they had opportunities to meet up with various colleagues.  

One such recent meeting was held with the American Red Cross (ARC) Director of Preparedness Programs & Global Disaster Preparedness Centre, Omar Abou-Samra. 

The meeting has confirmed ARC's interest to support VRCS with a new medium to long-term funding on Disaster and Climate Change activities in Vanuatu. 

VRCS currently has presence of it Branch establishments in all six provinces.

Vanuatu Red Cross supports election of new IFRC President

Mr Rocca is the President of Italy Red Cross Society.

“It is only normal that we support Italy because they have been talking with us about potential program support, similar to what they are already doing with other societies in the Pacific”, VRCS President Ati George Sokomanu said after personally congratulating Mr. Rocca after his successful election this week.

New board members for Vanuatu Red Cross Society

Veteran journalist, Moses Stevens has been elected Treasurer.

The Vanuatu Red Cross society held its Annual General Meeting on July 7 and elected new board members for a term of two years.

The AGM is mandated by the constitution to elect 8 members including the President, the Vice President and the Treasurer of the Society.

Three of the 8 members elected come from the branch of Torba, Sanma and Tafea.

Voters in the election included valid members of all the Provincial Branch also who have participated through proxy votes.
