Australian navy ships arrive in Vanuatu

Two Royal Australian Navy ships HMS Toowoomba and Success have arrived in Port Vila to take part in Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2018.

Australian sailors and soldiers will repaint the Vila Central Hospital, facilitate a women's leadership forum and conduct ship tours for schools and community groups.

Engineering sailors will also assist the Vanuatu Police Force with maintenance work on Vanuatu's Patrol Boat RVS Tukoro.

Australian High Commissioner Jenny Da Rin said the Indo-Pacific Endeavour Programme had been created to build capacity, engage with locals and continue to strengthen the historical friendship that Australia has built with its neighbour countries.

After Port Vila HMS Success will sail north to Santo where it will carry out similar activities.
