Ifira Black Bird a step away from Champions League qualification

Port Vila Football new club Champions, Ifira Black Bird are one step away from qualifying for their first ever OFC Champions League.

This follows a hard battle to beat 2016 champions, Erakor Golden Star after penalty shootout at Port Vila Stadium yesterday Saturday 10 June 2017.

Both clubs ended the match 0-0 after extra time and the winner must be decided by penalty shootout and Ifira came out the winners 3-0 , thanks to goals from Charles Atainoa and Harrison Mala from Solomon Islands and the third goal from Lee Taiwia.

The hero of the match is Ifira Black Bird FC goal keeper, Antony Taiwia who stopped all three shots from Erakor Golden Star FC.

Ifira now await the grand final of the AFIC Top Four Competition in two weeks.

In the other match yesterday, Amicale beat Tupuji Imere 3-1, thanks to goals from Daudau Gibson, Bong Kalo and Sika Mahuni.

Tupuji Imere’s only goal came from Don Mansale.

Tupuji Imere are now out of the competition and Amicale will take on Erakor Golden Star in the semi-final of the AFIC competition next Saturday.

The winner will meet Ifira Black Bird in the grand final in two weeks to find out who will represent Port Vila and Vanuatu Football in OFC Champions League in 2018.
