Luganville residents in low-lying areas evacuated as Cyclone Harold bears down on Vanuatu

Two evacuation centres are open at the Seventh Day Adventist Sarakata and Aia Motel in Luganville town for residents in flood-prone areas.

Police Force and Paramilitary group Vanuatu Mobile Force personnel have been helping families evacuate.

VBTC reports residents were stranded in the suburban area of Pepsi, at a low lying point where all houses have been flooded by the mighty Sarakata river waters.

The families are now in the evacuation centres.
