Promoting business capability in Vanuatu

As part of its Path to Market Programme, Pacific Trade and Invest (PTI New Zealand) is facilitating free one-day workshop in Vanuatu to assist business owners to grow their business and to attract investors to help fund it.

The workshop is being hosted in partnership with Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

A similar workshop will be held in Solomon Islands.

Acting Trade and Investment Commissioner Manuel Valdez says running a business requires many skills and much knowledge.

“These workshops are aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of business owners so they can be successful in their home nation – the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu – in the future export market,” Manuel says.

The workshops can provide selected companies the opportunity to participate in a Trade Mission to New Zealand in 2020 to explore export opportunities, he adds.

“The workshops will cover the things which make companies successful and provide information about preparing an investment profile to attract potential investors.”

Topics which will be focused on in the Business Capability Building Workshop include the New Zealand market environment; the power of your packaging and how to use it to your advantage; getting ready for the export market – regulations and requirements; marketing – the importance of your company story and value proposition; and how to set prices and improve profitability.

In the Investment Profiling Workshop understanding the China market opportunity will be an interesting topic for many Melanesian businesses.

These workshops will also focus on the investment environment; the approach to profiling your investment opportunity; how to prepare an investment profile/business plan; and it will include investment profile presentations by workgroups.

The Business Capability Building and Investment Workshop will be held in Port Vila, Vanuatu on Tuesday, 17 September 2019.
