Vanuatu Police Open Day in Luganville

The Northern Command will be organizing a Police Open Day in Luganville, Vanuatu on Friday after a lapse of a decade.

The main purpose of the event is to showcase and promote police services to the members of the public, build public relations and strengthen partnership with stakeholders.

Youths representing all suburbs within the Luganvillie Municipal have been invited to participate in sports and fun activities.

The theme for the event is “Joinem Hands Blong Faetem Crime.”

Young people will be the primary target of the day and arrangements have been made with youth representatives from different areas all over Luganvillie town to participate in sports competitions.

An important highlight of the day is the launching of the Santo Police Youth and Community Centre.

It is an initiative to address the needs of young people to work with Police to develop their skills, character and leadership to reduce and prevent crime against young people.

There will also be a focus on promoting young people to make positive contributions to their communities.

The Community Centre was funded by Vanuatu Australia and Justice Programme (VAPJP).

Acting Commander Northern Superintendent, George Songi is inviting the Youths around Luganvillie to come and join with the Police officers and their stakeholders in a Parade on the Friday, 10 May 2019 at 8am from the Sanma Police Station to the Sanma Police Headquarters.

The opening ceremony and all other activities will be held at the headquarters grounds.
