The chair of the Vanuatu Electoral Commission, Martin Tete, has died.
He died early Tuesday.
Mr Tete died as counting for last week's election was about to begin.
Vanuatu Daily Post's Dan McGarry described the death as "an incalculable loss" for Vanuatu.
