The Fiji Honorary Consul to Vanuatu along with Vanuatu Fiji Business Association and support from the Vanuatu Government raised F$25,824.91 to assist victims of Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
Fiji Times reports the TC Winston public appeal and direct donations ran in conjunction with the Fiji High Commission Appeal being run in other Melanesian Spearhead Group countries.
Fiji's Honorary Consul to Vanuatu, Charles Valentine said a fundraiser event on March 5 included raffles, food drives, canoe rides, barbecue sales and dance and entertainment provided by local groups.
Mr Valentine said the fundraiser was a success and was concluded with the Fiji national anthem sung by Fijians who were present at the event.
