TRR surveys impact of mobile phone, internet in Vanuatu

The past ten years or so, has been an extraordinary time for the development of information and communication technologies in Vanuatu – and with the ‘mobile miracle’ the benefits of ICTs have been brought within reach of people.

But how much to we actually know and understand its impact on our society and the experiences of the consumer?

There may be a lot of aspects involved and now the Telecommunications and Radiocommunications Regulator (TRR) in Vanuatu is running a general survey for telecommunication users or consumers to provide feedback on various questions that target the use of mobile phones and internet.

The overall aim of the survey is to comprehensively examine and fully understand consumer experiences in the current telecommunications market and to examine the impact of these experiences on the behavior of a consumer.

In addition, the survey will assist the TRR to be better informed when establishing a regulatory framework that is fair and beneficial to all stakeholders including users of the services.

Such a survey could provide an overview of the performance of the mobile industry in Vanuatu and define the main drivers behind the sector’s performance, as well as its overall characteristics and challenges.

It can also offer some insights into the wider impact of the mobile sector and provides the outlook for the industry in the face of deep economic, regulatory and technological change.

On that note TRR is inviting everyone to participant in responding to the questions provided in the survey.

The TRR says the survey will help impact the development of telecommunications in Vanuatu and assist TRR on ways to provide an appropriate and fair framework to promote telecommunication services in Vanuatu.

Whatever the result holds, it is for sure Vanuatu locals have definitely embraced the mobile phone revolution.
