Vanuatu’s Ministry of Internal Affairs embarks on a corporate plan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has organised a workshop with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) today to discuss the functions planned activities and challenges faced by different departments under its portfolio.

The aim of the workshop is to assist in preparing a corporate plan with activities to move forward.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support from Pacific Risk Resilience Program (PRRP), UNDP is preparing this Corporate Plan for 2016-2020. UNDP has provided technical assistance for designing the corporate plan.

A PRRP consultant, Bikash Dash is working closely with different departments under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to develop the vision, mission, function and activities for 2016-2020.

The current policy direction for 2010 – 2020 of the Ministry is being reviewed and aligned with the recent changes.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is also aligning its activities with the broad policy directions mentioned in the National Sustainable Development Plan (2016 – 2030 and it is ensured that CCDRR elements are also integrated.

Minister for Internal Affairs, Alfred Maoh attended the workshop and provided the opening remarks.

He said corporate plans should not only be strategic but also practical and should give a clear direction in which the ministry wants to move in the coming five years.

According to the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Cherol Ala, different departments under the Ministry such as the corporate services division, Vanuatu police service, department of local authorities, electoral office, civil status (registry) office, labour department, department of immigration and border control participated and contributed in the corporate plan preparation.

Ms Ala anticipates that the corporate plan will help the departments to develop business plans and implement activities under the plan.
