VFF secures 50 year lease of PV stadium

Vanuatu Football Federation is celebrating this week after an agreement was reached with Vanuatu government through the Ministry of Youth and Sport to secure 50 years lease of Port Vila stadium in Port Vila.

The 50 years lease agreement has been signed by the Minister of Youth and Sport, Mr. Samson Samsen, VFF President Mr. Lambert Maltock and the Sport Commission chairman Mr. William Nasak at the Youth and Sport Office in Port Vila on Tuesday 5 January.

“I am delighted that VFF has been able to reach an agreement with the Government today.” said  Mr. Maltock.

“We have over 100 football clubs in Vanuatu with thousands of football players but one thing we don’t really have is good football fields and facilities.”

“We have been working hard with other sports ministers in the past but today I must say that what the new Minister of Sports has done with his staffs and Government is great news for Vanuatu Football.”

“When you go to countries like Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, you can see that they have very good stadium but in Vanuatu we have many football clubs and players we luck good facilities.”

“By securing this long-term agreement today, VFF will be able to build further on their aim to develop the stadium with the help of OFC and FIFA to an international standard so that we can host OFC competition in Vanuatu.”

Mr. Samsen encouraged Mr. Maltock to continue development football not just in Port Vila but also see the needs of upgrading football fields in the other football associations in Vanuatu.
