The new Vanuatu National Senior Team head coach, Moise Poida is pleased with the performance of his team against a strong Fiji side last Saturday at Port Vila Stadium.

Vanuatu should have won the game easily but missed a lot of chances to score against the Frank Farina coached boys.

Solomon Warriors striker Kensi Tangis scored Vanuatu’s goal in style after receiving a great ball from Dominique Fred.

Fiji worked extra hard and in 96 minutes the Blues leveled the scoreboard seconds before referee Banga Robinson blew the final whistle.

“My boys played really well against a good Fiji side.” said Moise Poida.

“Most of my young players never played against the Fiji national senior team before and to draw with them last Saturday is a good result for Vanuatu Football.”

“We should have scored more goals against Fiji and beat them last Saturday because we had more chances to score.” he added.

“We know our return match on Tuesday is not going to be an easy one.”

“They gave us a hard time when we played them last Saturday, but this time around we will push to try to get a win.”

“We are working on rectifying the mistakes we made in the first match against them,” Moise commented.

“Now that we know how they play and what kind of players they have, it gives us something to work on preparing for the match on Tuesday.”

“We are expecting a tough match, and know that it’s not going to be easy.”

“They are very physical team, and know they are going to come out strong and try to score, but we need to be organized at the back and try and not concede any goals.”

“Before I finish, I just want to ask the match officials to control the game well according to the laws of the game.” he concluded.
