Tom Dean takes gold, plus silvers for Duncan Scott and Georgia Taylor-Brown

GB claimed six medals on Tuesday, including two silvers and three bronzes, to take their tally to 13 overall and put them fifth in the medal table.

It more than doubles Britain's previous best medal haul of six after the first four days, achieved at the 2000, 2008 and 2016 Games.

Dean, 21, who contracted Covid for the second time six months ago, edged out compatriot Duncan Scott into second by 0.04secs in the 200m freestyle swimming.

And Georgia Taylor-Brown fought back from a puncture on the last lap of the bike leg to take triathlon silver.

Fiji 7s put on aggressive performance against Great Britain

Fiji started out strong in the game after Asaeli Tuivuaka ran in to score the first try. However the conversion failed.

The defending champions continued the momentum after Sireli Maqala sliced through the defense for a converted try.

Great Britain failed to score any points in the first half of the match.

Jiuta Wainiqolo brushed Dan Norton aside before running away to score for a 19-nil lead at halftime.

Jason Kenny wins his 5th Olympic Gold

London 2012 champion Kenny came out on top in the first two races to win the best-of-three final.

Russia's Denis Dmitriev beat Australia's Matthew Glaetzer in the race for bronze.

 Britain’s Kenny, 28, has now won as many Olympic golds as rower Sir Steve Redgrave and fellow cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Only Sir Chris Hoy, also a cyclist, has won more with six but, Kenny can still beat Hoy’s record when he races in the Keirin on Tuesday.

Fiji to battle Team GB for gold medal

The Flying Fijians, the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series champions for the last two years, battled past Japan 20-5 in the first semi-final with Josua Tuisova among their try-scorers.

The second semi-final was even tighter, Great Britain emerging the 7-5 victors over Commonwealth Games champions South Africa with Tom Mitchell’s conversion the difference between the sides.

Mose Commissioned as Ambassador to three EU countries

Mose is also the Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Great Britain.

Ambassador Mose acknowledged the Solomon Islands Government for having the trust and confidence in him to take up additional responsibilities to represent the interest of Solomon Islands in the countries he is accredited to.
