Youth Parliament session receives positive feedbacks

The event was one of the independence celebration features that captured the attention of the public. 

The full day session was televised live by the Television blong Vanuatu (TBV) and attracted viewers of every age group, on the 29 July 2020, a day before the flag raising ceremony on the 30 July 2020.

The session had many positive feedbacks from the public. Some of the comments were:

“The government should make that young woman Speaker become the real Speaker.”

“They look real and they talk real politics down there, we should elect them MPs.”

Vanuatu players boost community-based volleyball tournament

Eight men's and eight women's six-a-side teams have been confirmed to compete in the Indoor Volleyball Championships which got underway yesterday and will consist of 40 matches over a four week period.

Tournament director, Mike Masauvakalo, said it was great to see national players getting involved.

"We encouraged players from different communities to organise community-based teams so that they can be part of this tournament as well," he said.

Vanuatu to stage a sitting Volleyball Para Independence Championship

The event will be held at the newly refurbished National Fitness and Evacuation Centre in Port Vila.

It will commemorate the country’s 40th Anniversary of Independence,

Collaborating with VASANOC, the Vanuatu Paralympic Committee and the Vanuatu Table Tennis Federation, in association with the Smash Down Barriers table tennis sport for development programme, Vanuatu Volleyball Federation (VVF) under its Volley4Change program will join in a day of competition which underlines sport as an inclusive activity for people with disabilities.

Vanuatu Independence Day celebrated by kiwifruit workers at Te Puna

The event has been organised by DMS Progrowers for RSE workers who hail from Vanuatu.

DMS Progrowers human tesources manager Rachel Trimble said it employed 69 RSE workers from Vanuatu who wanted to celebrate the occasion.

"They took it upon themselves to organise the event and because it was important to them DMS has given them the day off to celebrate. It is going to be a huge celebration and they have extended an invitation to other Vanuatu workers who live in the Bay of Plenty."

Victory march to open Vanuatu’s 36th independence anniversary

Known as the “Victory March” the parade will be led by Prime Minister Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas, Cabinet Ministers and MPs for Port Vila.

The procession will begin from ex-Trader Vics and head to the Saralana stage.

The chairman of the Public Service Commission. Martine Mahe has issued a government circular for all public servants to take time off from 2 pm to 4.30pm to join the march.
