Ministers briefed on Vanuatu Aviation Investment Project

The Minister of Infrastructure & Public Utilities, Jotham Napat and Minister of Finance, Gaetan Pikioune have been given a progress report about the Vanuatu Aviation Investment Project (VAIP).

While the evaluations of successfully submitted bids for runway rehabilitation works on AVL's 3 airports is currently being completed this week by technical experts, the contract for completion of a National Aviation Sector Strategy was also officially awarded this week.

The contract for consultancy services to complete Vanuatu's first Aviation Sector Strategy was awarded to IOS Partners following a detailed procurement process in accordance with World Bank guidelines.

The contract was signed today by Minister Napat on behalf of the Government of Vanuatu and in the presence of the Minister of Finance.

Completion of an Aviation Sector Strategy is included as a component of VAIP funded by the World Bank.

IOS Partners are expected to work closely with the Ministry of Infrastructure & Public Utilities (MIPU) as well as the Civil Aviation Authority of Vanuatu (CAAV) over the next few months to complete the Aviation Sector Strategy providing a clear strategic direction for the future development of aviation in Vanuatu.

The AVL Airport Master Plan, currently being completed by contractor Airbiz and also funded under VAIP, will complement and reflect this national Aviation Sector Strategy.
