Port Vila International School investing in community

Port Vila International School (PVIS) is committed to investing in education capacity building in Vanuatu.

New initiatives for 2018 include a strategic collaboration with Australian Pacific Technical College (APTC) to provide professional development and training opportunities for all PVIS locally employed Teaching Assistant staff, and providing school placements for APTC Certificate III students at the international school.

Principal Sarah Chambers said, “Port Vila International School is committed to providing excellent educational opportunities for both the local and international communities of Port Vila.

“This includes our staff as well as our students. Our partnership with APTC has provided outstanding professional learning opportunities for all of our Teaching Assistant staff to ensure their continued growth and development,” Mrs Chamber said.

In addition to this training, two PVIS Teaching Assistants have been granted paid study leave to further their education in 2019.

James Hinge and Judith Hosea will both attend APTC for six months to enable them to gain further skills to support literacy learning needs at PVIS.
