Pacific countries aim to collaborate more over aviation

The ministers met virtually last Wednesday and endorsed the Port Moresby Declaration.

This aims to help member countries respond to the challenges regarding aviation safety and security brought by the pandemic.

The ministers accepted the Pacific faces challenges in building and maintaining a safe, resilient, environmentally sustainable, and economically viable civil aviation system.

This includes complying with the International Civil Aviation Organisation's (ICAO) Standards and the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

At the meeting, which was also attended by Vanuatu’s Minister of Transport, Mr Jothan Napat, and ICAO’s Asia Pacific Regional Director, Mr. Arun Mishra, the two leaders agreed on the crucial importance of ICAO-compliant air connectivity to the immediate prosperity and long-term economic development of Vanuatu.

MSG aviation and tourism experts set eyes on multi- tourism destinations and aviation upgrade

The experts from Government Ministries and Agencies of MSG Member States held their second Aviation and Tourism Dialogue at the MSG Secretariat in Port Vila, Vanuatu, last week.

The two-day meeting was a follow-up to provide a platform for members to continue discussions on key issues, challenges and opportunities faced by member countries including Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.
