Australian Government donates Vt65 million for construction of Vanuatu’s Labour Department office

A contract for the project was signed by the Minister for Internal Affairs responsible for Labour matters, and Deputy Prime Minister, Ishmael Kalsakau, the Australian High Commissioner, Sarah deZoeten, and the constructor, Alfred Loli, of the Loli Construction Company.

It was witnessed by the Minister for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Jay Ngwele, and senior government officials.

Alfred Loli, of the Loli Construction signed for the company and vowed to have the project delivered on time.

Vanuatu Labour Department puts measures in place for employees and business operations

According to a statement by the Commissioner of Labour, employers who still have their business in operation to provide service to the population of Vanuatu, can rotate their employees in the following manner;

i) For employees who have accrued outstanding leave, the employer may put them on paid leave and allow those with less days to perform their duties.

The arrangement must be made known to the employees so there is a common understanding between the employer and the staff.
