Son of Sanma Province creates history in Vanuatu presidential election

Vurobaravu is the first person from Sanma Province to be elected to the highest office.

He is from Malo island and is a former ambassador to Fiji.

He succeeds Moses Obed Tallis whose five-year term has come to an end.

After eight rounds of voting by the Electoral College, Vurobaravu secured 48 votes, more than two-thirds of the required votes.

Vurobaravu attained a Master of Arts in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster DAL, specialising in foreign policy analysis, development cooperation and management of diplomatic missions. 

Vanuatu’s Sanma Province to begin COVID-19 vaccination roll-out soon

Temporary vaccination sites will be set up in Fanafo, Port Olry, Vulasepa South Santo Area 2 and Avunatari.

Sanma Province Manager of Rural Health, Vanoa Sikon said the fixed sites will stay for at least two weeks.

“There will be mobile teams of health officers deployed to nearby villages to ensure accessibility to those who are eligible.”

Plumbers complete Vanuatu’s first newly developed plumbing course

The graduates received their certificates after completing all 20 units in the new course.

The course was made possible through the joint effort between Torgil Rural Training Centre (under the Anglican Church of Melanesia Vocational Education and Training School — ACOMVETS), the Vanuatu Skills Partnership (VSP) through the SANMA Skills Centre under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), and the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).

Nasi, the loveable Van2017 mascot, and SAGOA will never be forgotten and will always be in children’s mind when it comes to hearing and talking about the 2017 Pacific Mini Games.

For 14 days, children around communities in Luganville and in rural areas of Sanma, were fortunate to see and touch the big mascot bird Nasi and the Sagoa.

Touring over 40 schools in the Northern Province, the Mascot Team delivered essential key messages on better healthy lifestyles, clean environment, better education, and how to become a Champion in their own lives.

GJP gains one more councilor in Sanma Province

The ceremony which took place at Jarailand on Friday 19th February was witnessed and received by GJP Minister for Internal Affairs,. Alfred Maoh, GJP Sanma Executive Chairman Jean Vincent Rocroc and GJP Councilor for Malo, Thomas Vora.  

Mr Efu was accompanied in his move by his Chairman Chief Michael of Belmol and over 500 supporters who voted the councilor into office in the December 2015 elections.
