He made the call at a food and drink launch by the Aniasuas-Mol Cooperative Society which is made up of farmers on Efate Island.

Mr Joseph challenged mothers to stop buying imported packets of Twisties for their children and instead called on them to introduce packets of local potato, banana, and manioc chips which have more nutritional value.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reported Mr Joseph says ni-Vanuatu people must start appreciating their own products as Solomon Islanders appreciate locally produced Solomon Taiyo tinned tuna.

USP offers In-Country Science Programme for Vanuatu

NZ flies in relief supplies for Ambae residents

The NZDF Boeing 757 landed at Bauerfield Airport and the relief supplies including shelter kits, family hygiene kits, mother-and-infant kits, water containers and tarpaulins were cross-loaded on to a NZDF C-130 Hercules for transport to Luganville.

According to the NZ High Commission in Port Vila, these supplies will be added to those pre-positioned in warehouses in Luganville last night, for the NDMO to arrange for them to be distributed as required.

Santo chiefs agree to resettle Ambae's volcano evacuees

Ambae's Manaro Voui crater is at alert level three of five, posing a threat to the health of the island's inhabitants, who are being encouraged by the government to evacuate.

The crater on Mount Lombenben began erupting in September last year, prompting a short term evacuation.

It intensified last month, forcing the government to announce a state of emergency.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reported Ambae's paramount chief, John Tarilama, requested the land from Santo's council during a recent traditional ceremony organised by the Malvatumauri National Council of Chiefs.
