The best- and worst-performing airlines in the world

Aside from variations in cabins and service quality, there's the major concern of how likely you are to get delayed. Fly on the wrong airline and your odds of a delay are as high as 55 percent; choose the right one and that number shrinks way down to just 11 percent. That's enough to make or break a vacation's spell, no matter where you're sitting on the plane.

But how do you know which airlines to steer clear of, and which ones to prioritise?

Airlines returning to Vanuatu

“Safety is always our number one priority and we will continue to monitor the runway to ensure that it remains suitable for operations,” Virgin Australia said.

The airline offers three flights a week from Brisbane.

Some airlines to continue to fly into Port Vila

Air New Zealand has stopped flying to Bauerfield because of concerns over the state of the runway although Virgin, Air Vanuatu and Fiji Airways say they will continue to operate.

Solomon Airlines' Gus Kraus says the airline has conducted a review of the runway and concluded conditions were safe for its Airbus A320 to fly in and out..

Airlines pull Vanuatu services due to runway concerns

Qantas has announced it has suspended its codeshare with Air Vanuatu effective immediately, and will no longer sell Air Vanuatu's flights from Sydney and Brisbane to Port Vila on its website.

A Qantas spokesperson says the airline is continuing its assessment of the situation and the options for customers who have commenced travel or who are booked on returning services.
