Port Vila Scholarship Scheme opens

The scholarship is open to all Ni-Vanuatu students, who are residents of Port Vila and are enrolled in Foundation courses at USP Emalus Campus in the first semester.

The scholarships will only cover tuition fees for 1 Foundation course per student per semester.

“Scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance; on Secondary School results or students beginning Foundation-level studies and on GPA for continuing Foundation-level students.”

GJP’s Warawara wins Malo/Aore by-election

Candidate Uri Warawara was declared duly elected by the Electoral Commission chairman, Martine Tete, at about 6.30pm (local time) and his announcement was made in the northern town of Luganville.

Warawara’s successful result has proved he had maintained his support base as the runner up to the winning candidate of this year’s snap election, late Havo Moli, earlier this year.

His election will bring to a total of 8 members of the GJP in the current 11th legislature.

Vanuatu party fights off another electoral petition

This week the court dismissed the claim brought against the Paama MP, William Tasso brought by Job Andy.

RNZI reports it is the fifth occasion that an MP from GJP has withstood a petition - three of those had been brought against the Tanna MP, Andrew Napuat, but he successfully saw them off.

GJP holds successful elected officials retreat on Lelepa Island

The meeting held last Friday and Saturday was attended by the six GJP MPs elected in the snap election of 2016 and 14 of the 17 GJP Councilors currently serving on the Provincial Governments of Sanma, Penama, Malampa and Shefa as well as the Municipal Councils of Luganville and Port Vila.

The GJP Presidents of Shefa and Sanma Province were also in attendance. 

GJP President Minister Ralph Regenvanu called the meeting a “success”.

GJP gains one more councilor in Sanma Province

The ceremony which took place at Jarailand on Friday 19th February was witnessed and received by GJP Minister for Internal Affairs,. Alfred Maoh, GJP Sanma Executive Chairman Jean Vincent Rocroc and GJP Councilor for Malo, Thomas Vora.  

Mr Efu was accompanied in his move by his Chairman Chief Michael of Belmol and over 500 supporters who voted the councilor into office in the December 2015 elections.
