The Federation’s Development Officer Frank Vira said, “Our testing today showed, more than half the number of students who are in the programme are intermediate swimmers.”

“A great start, considering most of these kids reported having little to no experience in swimming.”

The programme is supported by the Australian Government.

The event is hosted by the Vanuatu Aquatic Federation.

A statement from the federation said the swim will follow the same format of 1 or 2km to the rock and back in a lead up to our 3km race next month.

The federation is also inviting new swimmers to participate competitively.

Participants can wear fins and a snorkel.
